Help text for "Simple Search"

In the IZI bibliographic database, you will find references from monographic publications, collections, periodical articles, university publications, conference papers etc. from the fields of children’s, youth and educational television.

Overview of Simple Search

Simple Search allows you to search one or several terms by entering them in the search box (e.g. authors' names, keywords or descriptors). You can enter several terms and search them via "All terms" (= AND operation) or "Any term" (= OR operation).

After entering a search term, click on the button to Contextual Search and a selection list with similar terms will be displayed. This will be of assistance when you are unsure about the spelling of a name, for example, or do not know the precise term. If you want to enter a new search term, click on New Search.

Displaying search results

After a successful search, a hit list, arranged according to publication date, will be displayed. The default setting displays 100 hits, but you can increase the maximum number of results to be displayed to suit your wishes. If more than 500 hits are displayed, you should change or limit your search query.

Click on the "Details" button and the exact reference will be displayed. You can print it out or download it as a *.txt file (with or without field names).

If you wish to generate a results list in which you define the components of the references you wish to be displayed, first click the box at the left of the hit and then select the pertinent components in the box at the bottom of the list (use Control key for multiple selections). Click on the "Create results list" button and you will see the hits. Like "Details", this list can be printed out or downloaded. If you have any queries or suggestions, please contact the Head of the IZI documentation centre, Heike vom Orde.
